In April of this year, Jessie Alexander was diagnosed with bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma). Jessie was fortunate that the cancer was caught very early, because she was under monitoring for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), a chronic, progressive liver disease that she has lived with for the past five years.
To stop the cancer, Jessie requires a full liver transplant from a deceased donor. Since Jessie is a young mom with two small children, the doctors have marked her case as urgent, and they feel confident that she will receive a transplant within the next 1-2 months.
However, once the transplant is complete, Jessie will be unable to work or go out in public for 2-3 months, and will even need to live with her sister to limit contact with her children. Jessie's income as a surgical tech is critical to the family right now, as her husband Matt was laid off from his graphic design position shortly before Christmas. The odd jobs Matt has taken while searching for a new full-time role won't be enough to support the family with the loss of Jessie's income.
As a close family friend of the Alexanders, I have created this GoFundMe to support them with their upcoming medical expenses, outstanding medical bills, and living expenses through the months that Jessie is unable to work.
The Alexanders are a wonderful family who serve those around them daily through Jessie's work in healthcare and Matt's involvement in the Latter-day Saint art community. Please help support them in their time of need
