LOGLINE: On the night of her ailing father’s retirement party, Claire attempts to win his validation with a grand gesture. But after underwhelming him, she must endure one more night of the facade and absurdity of the world she’s been raised to serve.

"The Adults Are Talking" is a senior thesis film written and directed by Salvador Angelo Gonzalez who is a director and producer in the film conservatory at SUNY Purchase.

I am seeking funding ($5,000) to complete my senior thesis film at SUNY Purchase. The funds I raise will go to food and transportation for my student crew, location rentals, props, costumes, post production and festival submission funding.

As an Asian American filmmaker, I have always wanted to make a film that features people like me in my own movies. So as a senior working on my last student thesis film, I wanted to take this opportunity to finally get around to working on a story like this.

Simply to me, this is a story that delves into complex familial relationships. Specifically how love and validation become transactional when filtered through wealth and family. Claire's story reflects a family and a generation raised to measure self-worth through performance and material proof or succumb to a quiet humiliation. It's not about villains or victims, but about the slow corrosion of sincerity in a world where everything, even affection has a price.
