Once and a while in life we come across those stories that seem....well....to bad to be true. I wish I could say to good, but this mammas journey just keeps getting harder. Their daily normal is like what most people on experience once in a life time though a tragic event.
Meet Christa, and her 2 beautiful children Logan 12, and Sophia 8. All 3 suffer from NF. Neurofibromatosis or NF, causes tumors to develop on nerve tissue, and is a genetic disorder that is typically diagnosed in childhood and early adulthood. 1 in every 3000 births are diagnosed each year...and this sweet family has 3. We are raising money to help living costs for this newly single mother that just found out she lost her job, no fault of her own. Most important is a being able to pay for a car to get kids to their appointments, funds will also go to housing, food, and medical expenses for this family.
Logan has more then 20 lesions and tumors, recently underwent spinal surgery for a tethered spinal cord, suffers from delayed growth, learning disabilities, easily breaks his bones and is in daily pain due to the tumors that grow on the ends of his nerves. He under goes yearly MRI's and suffers from migraines that occur weekly. He also suffers from sensory disorders and delayed development. The upcoming cold and flu season is especially dangerous for him since his immune system is weakened. His daily life means pain, yet he pushes thru and somehow manages a sweet smile even in the face of his many challenges.
Sophia suffers from the same condition, also had spinal surgery due to a tethered cord, an has had multiple brain surgeries for a tumor in her brain that is causing an obstruction which leads to swelling, and is the cause of weekly sometimes daily migraines. The ER is like a new home to her. She suffers from delayed growth as well. She too is the sweetest little angle. Daily pain is all these kids know!
As if this wasn't enough, Christa found out after Logan was born that she too has NF, which explains her undiagnosed medical issues. Recently she started having seizures again. She spends most of her time in the hospitals with her kids or trying to manage their pain and needs.
If they are in a season where there are no impending ER visits, the next thing on her mind is how to pay the bills. Please...lets rally around this sweet family and bless them, knowing Christa, she will just pay it forward.
