Pickup Truck vs. Motorcycle Injury Crash
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 29, 2024

Berlin Twp, Monroe County: At approximately 7:47 p.m. on 7/28/24, Troopers from the Michigan State Police Monroe Post were dispatched to a 2-vehicle injury crash between a pickup truck and a motorcycle at the intersection of N. Dixie Hwy. and Armstrong Rd.
Preliminary on-scene investigation revealed the following sequence of events occurred: A Ford F-150, occupied by only the driver, was traveling southbound on Armstrong Rd. approaching N. Dixie Hwy. when the Ford failed to yield to a Yamaha Motorcycle, which was traveling southwest on N. Dixie Hwy.

The Yamaha, occupied by a 45-year-old male rider and a 38-year old female passenger, were struck by the Ford within the intersection of Armstrong Rd./ Trombley Rd. and N. Dixie Hwy. and
both occupants were thrown from the Yamaha. The male operator of the Yamaha sustained life threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by Frenchtown Twp. Fire Department to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The female passenger of the Yamaha sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by Monroe Community Ambulance to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital. She was later transported to the Dearborn hospital where she was listed in stable condition. The driver of the Ford F-150, a 43-year-old male from Newport, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. He was lodged at the Monroe County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated.

N. Dixie Hwy at Armstrong Rd./ Trombley Rd. was shutdown for several hours while Troopers conducted an on-scene investigation of the crash. Troopers were assisted on scene by Conservation Officers from The Department of Natural Resources, The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Berlin Township Fire Department, Frenchtown Twp. Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance.
