update: Unfortunately Buddy didn't make it.. He didn't recover from his last hospital stay last week.. today He took his last breath.. 4/4/2026

Buddy has been part of our family since 2020, and from the moment we met him, we knew he was special. Our three-legged boy may be missing a limb, but he makes up for it with more personality than most full-grown humans. He has launched himself onto the Thanksgiving table without warning, proudly dropped a (very much alive) mouse on my mom in the middle of the night, and runs the house like he pays the mortgage. He is bold, mischievous, loving, and completely unforgettable.

For several years, Buddy has been carefully managed with medication for a serious condition called megacolon. We've worked closely with our vet, adjusted medications, done hospital stays, and tried every available conservative treatment to keep him comfortable. Recently, despite everything we've done, his symptoms have worsened, and his doctors have told us that surgery is now his best chance at a comfortable, pain-free life.

This is not a decision we take lightly. Buddy is deeply bonded with our family - especially my mom - and he has brought so much comfort and laughter into our home. We want to give him the same devotion he's given us.

Unfortunately, the cost of surgery and aftercare is more than we can manage alone.

The estimated cost is around $8,000. We are asking for help because we have reached the point where this surgery is necessary for his quality of life.
