Support the 2024 East Coast Taiko Conference!

Gendo Taiko at Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design is hosting East Coast Taiko Conference 2024 from Friday, February 16 to Sunday, February 18, 2024, and needs your support to help make ECTC possible! This three-day conference is an opportunity for collegiate taiko players, taiko community members, and taiko masters to help build and sustain our vibrant taiko community, make long-lasting connections, ensure the passage of intergenerational taiko knowledge and expertise, and spark new innovations in taiko performance.

Gendo Taiko had previously planned to host ECTC in 2021 but could not due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In light of this, the theme for ECTC 2024 will be "In Return." With this focus, ECTC 2024 aims to reinvigorate taiko on the East Coast and bridge the different parts of our community together. ECTC 2024 returns us to a taiko community that is empowered to develop taiko as a performance art and cultural medium centered on accessibility, community care, reciprocity, and mutual support. ECTC 2024 invites everyone to ask the question, "How do we sustain ourselves-- for ourselves and by ourselves?"

The funds raised through this GoFundMe will go towards booking facilities, paying instructors' workshop fee, instructors' lodging and travel fees, hospitality charges, and reducing the registration fee for collegiate attendees. Every $100 helps cover the costs of a student attendee, every $500 provides lodging for a workshop leader, and every $1,000 helps pay a workshop instructor for their time and labor. ECTC 2024 is entirely student-run-- any and all support and publicity is appreciated! We thank you for your help and consideration!
