At the beginning of February 2026, our brother Thaying felt fatigued and thought he caught a cold/the flu. Regardless, he continued showing up to work and attended school events although his health quickly declined. On February 25th, he fell asleep in his car for about 30 minutes after coming home from work without realizing it. He managed to make his way into the living room with the little energy he had. Fortunately, our mother was in the living room and noticed he was not his usual self. At this point, it prompted her to take him to the Emergency Department. After several labs and testing, he was diagnosed with Leukemia and is still in the hospital.

Now, he is facing a battle no one ever expected.

For the past 10 years, Thaying dedicated his life to teaching students–not just lessons from textbooks, but lessons about integrity, perseverance, and kindness. From coaching volleyball to staying after school to help his students, he goes above and beyond for them. Fully committed to supporting his students’ success, he makes time to show up to games, performances, and events. The one who believes in his students even when they don’t yet believe in themselves.

If you know Thaying, you also know he is the last person who would ever ask for help. He is the one everyone calls when they need a hand; whether it’s helping a family member move, fixing something around the house, giving advice, or simply being present during hard times–he always shows up. His students and families mean everything to him. He has spent a decade pouring into his students, families, and friends without ever asking for anything in return.

On March 11th, Thaying started his cancer treatment. This will be a long and challenging road, however, we know he will fight this cancer with determination. As he prepares to navigate this difficult time, we recognize the upcoming financial burden of chemotherapy, hospital bills, medications, and time away from work will be overwhelming.

Today, we are asking for support on his behalf.
