Many people across Belfast know Thasheika Thompson as the heart behind Taste Di Island Cooking, a business that has brought the vibrant flavours and culture of Jamaica to Northern Ireland.

For years, Tasha has been more than a business owner. She has been a valued member of the community, sharing her passion for Jamaican food, creating connections between people from different backgrounds, and helping make Belfast a more welcoming and diverse place.

Sadly, during the recent riots in Belfast, Tasha’s home was targeted, leaving her and her family shaken and fearful for their safety. As they cope with the emotional and practical impact of this traumatic experience, Tasha has also been forced to close her business, cutting off an important source of income for her family.

Today, we are asking the community that Tasha has supported for so many years to stand with her in return.
