Support for Thad
Thad comes from a family of first responders and public servants, and serves the community as a First Responder, Firefighter, and EMT. What should have been a routine appendectomy on June 29 turned into a long and difficult medical crisis. After major complications and a serious infection, Thad was hospitalized locally for 12 days, where there was one procedure and another surgery in an effort to correct the issue. When Thad continued to get sicker, he was transferred to Iowa City, where there was another 14-day hospital stay, more procedures, and a 6 1/2 hour surgery. Thad is now home recovering, but doctors have shared that the road ahead will be long, with months of healing, physical therapy, and the possibility of a future surgery to repair a hole in the GI tract.
This fundraiser is being organized on Thad's behalf, with the family's permission, to help ease the burden of the costly medical bills and support the recovery still ahead. Thad and the family are quiet, humble servants who have spent much of their lives showing up for others. If you are able, please consider donating to support Thad's battle to return. Every gift, prayer, and kind thought means so much. The family shares this message with gratitude: "Thank you for the prayers and thoughts. We are blessed to still have Thad with us."
