Tewa and I have been longtime friends for 30+ years. She is a retired RN and a Great Grandmother. She has been a Committed Contributor to our community and now needs our help.
She has paralyzed upper arms. And she was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Also, two weeks ago suffered a stroke from a blood clot in the brain which affected her lower arm as well on one side.
She lives below the poverty level on Social Security, which is minimal.
In order to continue living Independently in her apartment Residence, Tewa will require caregivers for 20 hours a week in order to continue her current treatment. She has been doing physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. She is coming along fine but needs to continue the therapy.
Caregivers in our area charge between $25 an hour and $50 an hour. Medicaid will only pay $12 an hour. No one will work for that amount and meet her specific needs .
She has every hope that she can get back to her normal active life if she can continue her treatments. Any financial help you can give her will greatly appreciated.
