Support Tessa and Her Siblings as They Care for Their Parents
Tessa and her siblings are facing an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time as they care for their parents during serious medical crises.
Tessa’s father Frank is in the ICU recovering from a major heart surgery and facing a long and uncertain road ahead. He has had two open heart surgeries due to complications. Every day has felt like two steps forward, three steps back. As of today he is battling acute septic shock and is back on a ventilator and receiving beside dialysis.
At the same time, their mother Lois was recently diagnosed with late stage lung cancer, which has spread, now affecting her brain, heart, and liver as well. Her prognosis is optimistically 6-12 weeks, she is home receiving hospice care, where she is being kept as comfortable as possible and surrounded by the love of her family during the remainder of her life.
While navigating the emotional weight of both situations, Tessa and her siblings are doing everything they can to be present for their parents. They are making a four-hour round trip multiple times a week between home and the hospital to care for their mother, support their father, and coordinate the complex medical care both parents require.
Between the constant travel, time away from work, and the unexpected expenses that come with prolonged medical care, the financial strain is quickly become overwhelming.
We are asking for support to help ease that burden so these siblings can focus on what matters most right now — being there for their parents and for each other during this incredibly painful time.
