Our dear friend Tery needs our support while he fights to heal from cancer. Here's what Terry told us:
I am in a battle with cancer. It started with colorectal cancer with metastasis to my pelvis and two lymph nodes. Chemo destroyed the bone and lymph tumors! As chemo resistance began to kick in, a small tumor popped up on my liver. X Ray Radiation was applied to the colorectal tumor, and it nearly succeeded but I had received a lifetime maximum dose. I got referrals from my oncologist and PCP, and was accepted at Dana Farber. Since then I have gone through surgery to remove the colorectal tumor and anus. 100 Cesium 131 pellets were placed to kill unremovable bits personally by the Head of Radiology Department at Harvard Medical!!! Recently I was scheduled for a follow-up liver surgery, but it was aborted mid-procedure because very tiny nodules of cancer were seen. They took what they could for biopsy, then closed me up. The plan has now shifted to healing me up as fast as possible and to resume chemo to kill the nodules. Then we will resume the liver surgery.
All of this is generating some medical bills not covered by Medicare. I still definitely have a chance of being free of known cancer, and I still have lots of fight in me! Learning to ask for help is part of battling cancer. Thank you so much! --Tery
Tery has gone through so much in this battle, and still continues to fight each day with his characteristic positive outlook and good humor. He needs his community to come together and support him so he can put all his focus on his treatment and healing. Will you please contribute so Tery can get back to feeling his best?
