Terry has spent over 40 years caring for others - as a parent, a nurse, a healthcare consultant, and a trusted friend to so many. If you know her, you know she shows up with fierce compassion, sharp wit, and a no-nonsense drive to get things done. She’s raised two amazing kids, taken in more rescue animals than she probably planned to, and even run multiple marathons, mostly at Disney.
Just last week, Terry received the devastating news that she has stage 4 cancer. The diagnosis came suddenly and has already forced her to stop working. She’s now in the midst of seeking second opinions, exploring treatment options, and applying for work disability - knowing this journey will be physically and emotionally demanding, and financially overwhelming. Terry now knows that the cancer has impacted several of her abdominal organs, and there is already a lot of pain. Still, she remains confident that there are treatment paths worth pursuing.
At the same time, Terry is continuing to work toward a goal she’s been building for the past two years: earning her certification to become a life, health, and wellness coach. She had been preparing to launch her coaching practice this November and she’s still moving forward with that plan albeit the timing is likely to change given this news. Supporting others in living with purpose and resilience has always been at the heart of who she is, and that commitment hasn’t changed.
Many of the treatments she’s considering, including second opinions and alternative therapies, aren’t covered by insurance. Right now, Terry’s most urgent priority is finding a treatment team that can support her goals and help manage her pain. She is focused on understanding her options and staying as present as possible without the added burden of money.
