My incredible mother-in-law, Terri, recently survived a major stroke on September 8th, which left her with vision loss, confusion, and significant weakness on her left side.
She was admitted to UPMC St. Margaret, where she had been for almost a month, and she spent a few days in the ICU, receiving treatments and testing, including a pneumonia diagnosis. After around two weeks, she was transferred to the rehab floor to begin intensive therapy. While making progress, she still faced challenges with mobility, vision, and overall strength.
Unfortunately, her doctors have also found cancer and are working to identify its source. To add to her struggles, Terri had to pause her rehab treatment as her blood pressure began to drop, among other problems.
On Saturday, October 4th, Terri suffered a brain bleed after a fall and was transported to UPMC Shadyside, where she will continue receiving care and hopefully begin cancer treatment as soon as she is deemed medically stable.
Terri’s husband, Keith, owns a carpentry business, her son Travis works for the company with his dad, and her daughter, Ashley, works in marketing. All three of them have had to miss work and revise their schedules as much as possible to be there for Terri.
We’re asking for help to ease the financial burden on our family so we can focus on what matters most: Terri regaining her independence, making a strong recovery, and fighting against cancer.
Terri is a wonderful wife and mother who is loved by so many. She’s a fighter, having overcome an AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation) diagnosis in 2005, and has always gone above and beyond for everyone in her life. Now, it’s our turn to give back to her as she faces both stroke recovery and cancer treatment.
The funds raised will go toward her hospital bills, cancer treatment, at-home nursing care, outpatient treatments, and necessary equipment, and any unforeseen costs.
Your donations, prayers, and kind words mean the world to Terri, Keith, Travis, Ashley, and myself during this challenging time. We pray Terri gets home to her family and her dog Charlie (whom she misses so much) as soon as possible! Thank you for your support and encouragement.
