Hi, my name is Terri, and I’m reaching out because my family and I are facing an incredibly challenging time. We are struggling to keep our home due to an unforeseen job transition and loss of income.
Shortly after we signed on our home, my fiancé left us, leaving me to manage all the financial responsibilities alone. Six months later I unexpectedly lost my job. I have secured employment again, however, decreased income over the past several months has caused me to fall behind. The mortgage company said I could enroll in a program to reduce my monthly mortgage payment. My ex said that if I did the program that he would sign the loan modification documents to get the payment lowered. I successfully completed the program and signed the new documents, but when I mailed him the papers he refused to sign them out of spite stating that he wants me to lose the house out of revenge for the failed relationship. In order to be eligible for the program I had to fall delinquent on payments and pay a lesser amount every month. I would be current on the loan if both parties sign modification paperwork. Him refusing to sign disqualifies me from the program and makes the entire past due amount owed by February 1st. Otherwise, the bank will proceed with foreclosure. I have cashed out my 401(k) and rented rooms out in my home. I am able to maintain at this point, but I have no way to come up with the extra funds to come current with the mortgage company.
Our home is more than just a place to live—it’s where my 16-year-old daughter laughs, learns, and grows every day. She deserves stability, and the thought of losing our home is heartbreaking. Our beloved pets, who bring us joy and comfort during stressful times, are part of this family too.
We are humbly asking for your help to keep our home and our family together—our daughter, our pets, and all of us. Every donation, no matter the size, will help pay down the past due amount on the mortgage, and keep a roof over our heads.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading our story and for helping our family during this difficult time. Your generosity truly means the world.
