Support Terrina's Emergency Car Repair Fund

Hello friends and family! My name is Terrina and I have found myself in state of emergency after having my car stolen and vandalized. Luckily, I was not physically present for the break in or theft of my vehicle, and I'm even more grateful that my vehicle did not cause additional harm to anyone else or property.

My wallet was stolen, and I've taken all security measures in place to remedy this theft. The physical damages to my car will not be covered by insurance, and the financial strain to bring my sole method of transportation is overwhelming.

I've leaned heavily on my mother, who if you are aware has been out of work since 2019 due to her rare medical condition: The Nutcracker Syndrome, and I am ever grateful for her support through this difficult emergency; yet I find myself in the most difficult position as I write this campaign. The cost of repairs must come out of pocket and I'm so disappointed that I cannot independently take care of this. My mother is willing to help as much as she is able, but her finances are limited. My family is not large, especially after the passing of my grandmother, who would always help me navigate a crisis, so I must look to my larger community in hopes that little helpings hands are willing and able.

*Edit: The total cost of damages is $2,000 including parts and labor. Luckily the damages were mostly superficial!!

The Story:

The theft occurred on Sunday, June 2nd, around 2:30pm in North Minneapolis, in the driveway of my mother's home, formerly my grandmother's home. The house is riddled with security camera, which the perpetrators looked directly at several times (IN BROAD DAYLIGHT), but the alert notifications were muted on my mother's cell phone, so we had no idea of the horror occurring outside, while we were inside preparing and planning for my grandmother's upcoming Celebration of Life.

Upon my exit, I was perplexed to not see my car where I had left it, but it took a moment for me to realize I had a big problem on my hands.

Upon reviewing the footage, I could confirm that my Kia alarm system was disabled, broken into, back window smashed, and my wallet was stolen. At 5:30, I called into MPD to report my vehicle as stolen. After reviewing the camera footage, I could confirm that my Kia was broken into, back window smashed, and my wallet was stolen without a single alarm going off.

Within minutes, I received a call back notifying me that my vehicle had already been towed to the Mpls Impound Lot and marked as an unreported stolen vehicle. Unfortunate, that I did not receive a notice for the MPD when my plates were run because I could have avoided the impound lot fees and had my car towed to an auto body shop immediately.

Once I was able to view the damages of vehicle in person, take photos for insurance, and retrieve my personal belongings, it was a blessing to discover that only my wallet was missing, but the see the broken window, the glass everywhere on my back, the steering wheel column completely stripped, and my personal belongings rambled through, the weight of my security and privacy again overwhelmed me.

While a plan is in place to get my car back into operation, I am exploring all avenues to come up with the capital needs to cover the expenses of repairs.
