I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my friend, Terra Abrams, and her family as they navigate an unexpected and emotionally difficult kinship placement situation involving a newborn infant connected to their extended family and community.

Over the past several days, Terra and her family have traveled unexpectedly across state lines, taken time away from work and their children, and begun seeking legal guidance while attempting to support what they believe is in the best interest of this child.

Because the situation involves a potential interstate kinship placement, the child is currently in temporary foster care while legal and placement processes are being addressed. The family understands that these procedures take time and that agencies must follow required policies and evaluations. At the same time, they are hopeful that any necessary reviews, legal steps, and placement considerations can move forward as quickly as possible so the child can be home with familiar family connections and begin building long-term stability and attachment during this critical stage of infancy.

The family’s goal is simply to provide a safe, loving, and stable home environment while preserving sibling and family relationships already connected to the child.

Due to the sudden nature of the situation, Terra and her family were not financially prepared for the costs associated with:

emergency travel,

hotel stays,

missed work,

legal consultations,

document preparation,

and possible interstate placement requirements.

To protect the privacy of the child and family involved, identifying details will not be shared publicly.
