Terrance's Story:
I hope you're all doing great. I wanted to share a bit about what’s been going on with me lately. Your support and encouragement means a lot as I go through this rough patch.
Back in 2014 during college football practice, I thought my coach was telling me to slow down and kicked me in the back leg as I heard a snap following a sudden sharp pain. Turns out, my left Achilles tendon tore. It was a tough injury, but with time in a cast and lots of healing, I was back on my feet. Unfortunately, that was the last time I played Football since.
Fast forward 10 years to March 11th, 2024, I managed to rupture my Achilles again, this time on my right leg. Just my luck, right? Thankfully, I did not have to undergo any surgery and let it heal naturally through months of physical therapy. But wait! Then, on May 30th, 2024, I surprised my girlfriend on a glamping trip for our anniversary. I even booked a trail ride with horses towards the end of the trip. I’ve ridden horses before, but wouldn’t you know it, I managed to tear it again while simply... mounting the horse. The same dreaded snap, the same pain. I didn't want to ruin the moment so I kept quiet for the remainder of the ride. Man, it was a tough blow. Since March, I have not been able to work and eventually got terminated from my job. I did manage to get a summer job with my current ability at the time but fell short after getting reinjured.
To where I am now, I went through a whole circus of doctor visits, getting bounced from one specialist to another and in total, I've seen five specialists... Finally, I found a great podiatrist ready to fix me up, but then I got COVID-19, which delayed my surgery.
On July 9th, I finally got a full reconstruction surgery to my right Achilles tendon. Along with dealing with medical bills, this led to a financial debt that resulted in myself to move out from my current residence. Not being able to work for so long while financial debt continues to grow has been very difficult to navigate by myself and I have been trying to stay positive.
But I've reached the point that feels out of my character. I need to ask you all for financial help. If you can donate anything, that would be incredibly appreciated. If you cannot help financially, please, if you can share my story, that would be amazing. I do believe things will get better and your support in any capacity would make a world of difference.
Thanks for reading my story and I appreciate for any support you can offer.
Cheers,
Terrance Nicholas
