While our parents were on vacation a couple of weeks ago, our mom Teri, had a bike accident resulting in several significant injuries. She has a completely torn ACL, MCL, and LCL, as well as a partial tear to the meniscus, and bone damage in her right knee. In addition to that, she has a torn rotator cuff, several fractures, bicep tendon damage, and floating bone fragments in her left arm. After multiple visits to the ER, primary care, and local orthopedic surgeon, they are headed to Stanford at the beginning of November to meet with a sports medicine & joint preservation specialist, to hopefully be approved for surgery.
Teri has very limited mobility and is only able to sit or lay down, with the exception of standing on one leg for a minute or two at a time. In order to help facilitate pain management, circulation, and movement, they have rented a transport chair, and a medical grade zero gravity lift recliner, as well as purchased a lift kit for their bed. All of these medical expenses have caused financial strain, and we are hoping to raise funds in order to help cover these costs, as well as any additional costs for surgery, hospital expenses, and follow up care and therapy.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out, sent cards or flowers, dropped off food and practical items, or has come to visit and help out. We are so grateful for our community of friends and family who have come along side us during this time. We appreciate your prayers, love, and support.
