This is not a fundraiser I ever imagined writing. More than a decade ago, I debuted alongside a group of fellow young adult writers known as the Class of 2009. We were navigating the excitement and uncertainty of publishing together, and one of the writers I became closest with was Teri Hall. Teri wrote “The Line” trilogy, a series that explored resilience, courage, and what it means to stand up when the world feels divided.
Teri has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, and the impact on her health and livelihood has been profound.
After our books were published, we shared book events at schools in Seattle and at Village Books in Bellingham, the community she calls home. I saw firsthand how deeply she cared about readers and about building meaningful connections through story. Now Teri is facing a battle of her own.
In addition to being diagnosed with a brain tumor, Teri has also lost her job as an Academic Advisor at Western Washington University due to budget cuts. Alongside the emotional and physical toll of the diagnosis, she is now navigating sudden financial uncertainty. This fundraiser has been created to support Teri during this incredibly difficult time. A brain tumor brings not only physical and emotional strain but also overwhelming financial pressure.
All funds will go directly to Teri to help cover medical expenses, prescription medications, lost income, mortgage, and everyday living expenses while she focuses on her health.
Teri has given so much. She has inspired countless young people through her writing and her work in education. Now she needs the same support in return. If you are able to donate, no amount is too small. Every contribution makes a meaningful difference.
If donating isn’t possible right now, sharing this campaign with your network can have an enormous impact. Let’s come together to support Teri so she can focus on healing, treatment, and recovery, not financial stress. Thank you for your help.
