Teri Cullen is a dear friend I met through our ladies' Bible study, and she is someone who has always shown strength and kindness to those around her. On November 26th, Teri underwent neck surgery, but the very next day, she faced a frightening setback—she coughed up blood and was rushed to the ER. She was transferred to HCA in Houston, where doctors discovered a hole had been poked in her esophagus during the first surgery. Teri had to undergo a second emergency surgery and spent six days in the hospital, beginning a long and difficult recovery journey.

Teri’s recovery has been much longer than expected. At her last post-op visit, her doctor told her she would need even more time to heal, and she is still struggling to swallow food. This means she won’t be able to return to work until March. Teri has already used up her sick days for the year and does not have short-term or long-term disability benefits. Her last paycheck was in December, and she is the sole provider for her two daughters—Erin, who is in college in Oklahoma, and Emily, who is still at home.

The funds raised will help Teri cover essential expenses like rent, car payments, auto insurance, groceries, and gas for the many trips to Houston for doctor visits. It will also help Erin with groceries, car insurance, and other living expenses while she is away at school.
