my name is Teri Clarke and I write horror and dark fantasy under the pseudonym Zin E. Rocklyn. I won the Shirley Jackson award for my debut novella FLOWERS FOR THE SEA and the Joseph Pulver Award for my contributions to the genre as a Black woman speculative writer.

incredibly, I applied and have been admitted to the competitive Under the Volcano workshop where I will be able to hone and improve my craft with the great Sheree Renee Thomas (a leader in Black Speculative fiction). I am excited for this opportunity, but it comes with a heavy price tag.

as some of you know, unless you're Stephen King or a handful of other exceptions, writing doesn't really pay the bills, never mind opportunities like this one, so I am asking for your help.

the goal is $6,500 which will cover the tuition, flights, and room & board. the immediate need is $500 for the deposit which is due the 15th of October.

I cannot thank you for helping me over the years and I promise from the bottom of my grateful heart that I will take the first chance at paying this forward the moment I can.
