On June 24th, 2025, Teresa was admitted to Neuro ICU and suffered a hemorrhagic stroke due to a ruptured aneurysm, which caused hydrocephalus (fluid) in the brain. Doctors placed a drain cath to remove the fluid and pressure on her brain and she underwent surgery to repair the aneurysm. Luckily, the surgery process went great and everything went as planned. Teresa has been awake for a couple of hours each day since surgery and is able to follow short commands and reply with head nods and small words during those awake periods. Recovery is going to be a very long process; we’re told anywhere from two weeks to one month in Neuro ICU. She will need some sort of (inpatient or outpatient) rehabilitation/therapy, which will be determined based on her status upon discharge, along with many appointments, scans/tests, and possible surgeries.
Her daughters are trying to organize financial matters and looking for resources/support as they figure out funding for medical, rehabilitation/therapies, care, and other living expenses throughout this lengthy process as she will be out of work for a long period of time.
