Help Teresa Fight Through This Difficult Time
My name is Tom, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help for my wife, Teresa. She is the most loving, selfless person I know—always putting others first. Now, she’s facing a challenge that no one should have to face alone.
In 2023, Teresa was diagnosed with Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS), a rare, progressive neurological disease that affects the nerve cells controlling voluntary muscles. Over time, PLS causes muscle weakness, stiffness, and difficulty with movement, speech, and swallowing. While not immediately life-threatening, it is life-altering and requires ongoing medical care, therapy, and adaptive equipment.
Teresa’s ability to use her upper extremities has been deteriorating much faster than we anticipated. She has had no use of her left arm and hand for several years, and now she has no use of her right arm and hand. Her lower extremities are now starting to get weaker, which is making getting around more challenging. Recently, Teresa was provided a power wheelchair to make getting around a little easier. Due to her lack of upper extremity use, she must use her head to drive and steer. The challenge now is transporting her comfortably. Transferring her in and out of the car is becoming more difficult as her lower extremities get weaker. Her biggest need now is a vehicle that will transport her and her power chair to eliminate the need to do vehicle transfers. We know that is a big ask, and prayer, but we know that we have a big God who answers big prayers.
Teresa dedicated over 20 years of her life as a teacher in a Christian school, shaping young minds and pouring her heart into her students. She has always been a source of strength and encouragement to those around her. She’s the kind of person who lights up a room with her smile and gives generously without expecting anything in return. Now, it’s our turn to give back to her.
Your donation—no matter the size—will go directly toward covering her medical bills, essential care, and help with the cost of buying a handicap-accessible van. Every dollar brings us closer to easing this burden and allowing Teresa to focus on what matters most: her faith in God and adapting to this new reality. I would love to say healing, but there is no cure for PLS at this time.
If you’re unable to give financially, please consider sharing this campaign with your friends and family. Your prayers and support mean the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any help you can provide. Together, we can make a difference for Teresa.
