I am making this request for help on behalf of my younger sister Teresa. She was hospitalized on July 2, 2025, for persistent abdominal pain and Jaundice. She learned that she had Pancreatic Cancer on July 11. Teresa has begun her fight against this illness and has completed 3 rounds of chemotherapy as of August 20th. Although they have taken a toll on her, physically, mentally and emotionally, she continues to be strong but needs support.

Teresa has been unable to work since June. Initially due to pain and now due to the side effects of chemotherapy. Her leaves have all been exhausted & she will be placed on short term disability, which will diminish her income, making it very difficult to cover monthly expenses.

She wishes to return to work, but the chemotherapy has made that an unrealistic goal for now. This round of treatments will continue until November, and her future condition remains unknown.

Any contribution, no matter the amount, would be greatly appreciated. Any kind words to her would be greatly appreciated and any prayers would be greatly appreciated.

If you can, join me in helping Teresa help herself to get better. I hope together we can ease her worry and anxiety over financial obligations so she can focus on treatment and fighting this illness.

Update (12/24/2025):

After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July of this year, Teresa began chemotherapy by the end of that month. At the time it was her only option for treatment. After 6 rounds of chemo in July, August and September, an MRI was performed on 9/12/25. The results were promising. The cancer had not spread, and the tumor was shrinking.

At this point, Teresa's Oncologist wanted her to switch treatments to a more powerful chemotherapy in the form of a pump. It would be worn and deliver chemo over a 2-day period. The goal was to shrink the tumor further to allow for surgical removal.

After 2 rounds of wearing the pump in October and November, a CT scan was performed and showed the tumor was not visible in the scan. At this point, surgical removal was now an option.

Yesterday, 12/23/25, Teresa underwent surgery (Wipple Procedure) at Memorial Sloan Kettering at 1275 York Avenue to remove the cancerous part of her pancreas, gallbladder and a portion of the small intestine. All went well. The procedure began at 11 am and was completed by 3:45 pm.

As of this morning, Teresa was moved from Recovery to a room. She will spend the next 5-7 days in the Hospital.
