Support Teresa & Lazaro Diaz's Journey to Recovery & HOPE
Donation protected
On March 17, 2025 my mother, Teresa Diaz, experienced a life-changing tragedy when a cooking fire quickly escalated and raged out of control consuming her home in Oceanside, CA. Her home wasn't just a place filled with personal belongings - it was a space filled with warmth, love and cherished memories spanning decades!
My brother, Lazaro Diaz, who serves as our mother's live-in primary caregiver, was also devastated by the fire. Along with losing all this personal belongings, his work truck and all the tools he's spent a lifetime building his trade with were destroyed. These are essential for his livelihood.
While we are beyond grateful and feel extremely fortunate and blessed that she survived, thanks to the swift actions of a Good Samaritan, they both lost nearly everything they've spent their lives working hard for and building. They're now left with the overwhelming challenge of replacing EVERYTHING... clothes, shoes, food, medications, medical equipment and other general necessities.
Why We're Asking For Help:
Family, friends, neighbors and communities near and far have reached out asking how they can help / support. Although we were hesitant to start a GoFundMe campaign, we quickly exhausted the generous but limited resources we received for their immediate physical and medical needs.
Our goal is not only to help them recover but also to give them the opportunity to rebuild their lives with stability and hope, especially in this later stage of life.
As a family, we are doing everything possible to support my mother, help her heal, and restore a sense of normalcy. However, being displaced from her home and the community she loves at the senior mobile home park has made this recovery process even more challenging.
My Mother's Home: A Place of Love and Gathering
My mother's home was more than just a house - it was a gathering place where family, friends, and even great grandchildren felt welcomed to stop by unannounced and be greeted with a warm home cooked meal. Cooking for family and friends is my mother's love language and how she expresses her affection & love.
The process of relocating, recovering and clean-up has been extremely overwhelming and emotionally draining adding more difficulty to an already devastating situation.
How You Can Help:
Any contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in helping my mother begin the process of starting over. If you are unable to donate we completely understand. Sharing and forwarding this campaign along with your thoughts and prayers are equally needed and appreciated!
From the bottom of all of our hearts, we thank you for your compassion, kindness and support. As the saying goes, sometimes things must fall apart so better things can come together. We hold onto the hope that it's NEVER to late to start again and that a brighter future awaits them both.
With Gratitude and HOPE,
The Diaz Family
