Support Teresa in Memory of Pastor Dave

Where do we even start to tell you about our amazing friend David Lee McCauley. Dave was one of the most genuine, kind, patient and loving men I have ever known. A man so strong in his faith no one could waver him. Someone with a heart of gold who could walk in the room and bring a sense of peace and comfort with him. Of course, along with that he would bring his sense of humor, he was always joking and picking on the children encouraging them to laugh as often as possible.

Dave married his wife Teresa in 1988 straight out of high school. They were married for 36 years but had been together for 41 years. Teresa knew right away he was the man she was to marry. David took a little more time to realize she was the love of his life. Lol.

After marrying, Dave and Teresa had their two sons, Matthew and Chad. Dave was a devoted and dedicated father. Always raising his boys up in the Lord. Matthew and Chad are both now grown men married and fathers themselves. Visual proof of all the love, support, and patience Dave poured into them as their father. He has five grandchildren who he persistently encouraged to be rotten ornery while loving them more than imaginable.

Dave’s relationship with his Lord and Savior was his ultimate passion and serving Him was his central focus. His love for God was never not known or shown! As soon as you would meet him you knew where he stood with God. Dave was a pastor at a local church in West Union WV. That church was his second family and he poured out everything into his ministry.
His wife, children, and grandchildren were his life but serving God was always first. God called Dave to be a pastor and it was something you knew he was meant to do. Still to this day there is no doubt he was truly anointed to preach God’s word. Dave was the Pastor at the now called Immanuel Fellowship Church in West Union for 19 years.

Among many things Dave loved to be outdoors in the nature in which God created. He loved working with children as they are the most precious gift and blessing from God. He was a bus driver for Doddridge County Public Schools. A bus driver who I heard would never fail to share a piece of candy with the kids on their way off the bus.
He also served many years leading and working with a local church camp each summer. Dave was a strong, dedicated and loyal member of his community. He was always willing to lend a hand whether it was at the local food pantry, giving a stranger a ride, or maybe even just to lend an ear. He was always leading by example!

Dave loved the Cleveland Browns to his core and enjoyed every game he was able to watch. He enjoyed deer hunting, grilling food for his family, nurturing his flowers and garden and so much more. Truly just a man full of life and love!

I share my friend’s life in detail with you to also share with you the recent and heartbreaking news we received. On May 23, 2024 Dave experienced a massive heart attack and passed away. This sudden news of our friend has left us all in shock with hearts full of sorrow. A husband and father at the age of 55 who just that same day received a good report from his doctor saying his blood work and everything looked good has left so soon.
Although in our hearts we know Dave is walking side by side with his Lord and Savior and experiencing what we all can’t wait to see some day, heaven, the hole left in our hearts still hurts. A pain we all are feeling as we mourn the loss of a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, mentor, friend, pastor, neighbor, and bus driver.

I have watched a community rally together to support this family the past couple weeks in such a strong and powerful way that it gives me comfort that no matter what, the McCauley family will definitely have amazing support through this difficult time.

In saying all this the reason I created this GoFundMe was because I saw a need I thought we could help with; to ease the stress that’s now arising with all the financial responsibilities that may lie ahead for Teresa, Dave’s wife.

I can only imagine the unexpected expenses that arise in a tragedy like this. Not only does she have the funeral costs but the EMT fees from the night he passed could also be another one. There is so much more to consider that Teresea is left to figure out.
Dave was a pastor. Teresa and him resided in the parsonage next door to the church. A parsonage belongs to the church and is usually used for whomever pastors that church. In time the church may ask her to move as a new pastor will come about.
She may also need to consider this before the church needs her to move just because she is now going from two contributing incomes within the household to one. That changes everything when you look at the utility costs, insurances, and so on.

This GoFundMe could be used as a nest egg to help her with a down payment on a new home, or keeping the utilities afloat till she figures things out. She could also use it for the funeral costs, EMT fees or anything else that could arise after Dave’s death.
For this family he was the primary one who took care of everything financially. He was the head of the house and had the lead role for all of these sorts of details.
So Teresa has a lot to figure out again with the unexpected death of her husband of almost 40 years. Teresa is figuring out the financial side of the life they shared, while grieving him.

I just want to see if we can help relieve that stress even just a little. If you cannot donate to Teresa that is ok too and a great gift of support would be to lift the entire McCauley family up in prayer! Thank you in advance to each and every one of you!
