I am Melanie Griffith, and I’m organizing this gofundme for my precious cousin and her husband Sam, from Savannah, Georgia. I have been in contact with their only child Savannah. She has been on a health journey all of her life, having Cystic Fibrosis. Her parents, especially her Mama, have always been there for her through many hard times. Teresa has advocated for Savannah’s treatments in unbelievable ways. She feels like it’s time to help them now. As you will read in Savannah’s story, her Mama recently lost her job. So, they are not asking for a hand out, just a hand UP! These funds will go directly to Teresa to cover medical expenses, which will be enormous, travel, food and necessities that go along with Sam’s care. Thank you all in advance. I’m posting Savannah’s heartfelt words to you all.
Savannah’s Story
“Our family has been hit with a heartbreaking season of life.
My dad, Sam, was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer that has also affected his colon. It’s an aggressive and painful cancer, and we’re facing a long and uncertain road ahead. In the near future, he’ll undergo a major procedure to remove the tumor, followed by chemotherapy and continued treatment.
Right now, he needs constant care. He’s weak, in pain, and unable to be left alone—and the only person he has by his side is my mom, Teresa. She is his full-time caregiver, advocate, and source of strength. And while she wouldn’t have it any other way, the weight of it all is more than one person should have to carry.
To make things even harder, my mom recently lost her job. She’s doing everything she can to hold things together, but finding new work while also taking care of my dad around the clock has been nearly impossible. She’s always been the one who shows up for everyone else—especially for me, throughout my lifelong journey with cystic fibrosis. She has spent her whole life giving everything she has to her family, and now she’s carrying the emotional, physical, and financial burden of this crisis on her own.
We’re sharing our story and asking for support to help relieve some of the pressure they’re facing. Every donation will go directly toward medical expenses, travel to and from appointments, and daily living costs while Teresa cares for Sam full-time.
If you know Sam and Teresa, you know how selfless and strong they are. They would never ask for help—but right now, they truly need it. Whether you’re able to give, pray, or simply share this with others, it means the world to us.
Thank you for loving our family through this difficult time.”
