Help Teresa Rebuild a Safe Home for Her Children

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-Hearted Strangers,

We’re reaching out to you with heavy hearts on behalf of Teresa and her two young sons, who are in desperate need of support, stability, and safety.

Almost two years ago, Teresa faced an unimaginable tragedy …her husband died by suicide in their family home. Her son Jack, who had just graduated high school, witnessed this traumatic event. In an effort to heal and protect her children, Teresa left the home where it happened, hoping to start fresh. Sadly, what followed was a different kind of nightmare.

On May 30, 2024 … just days after graduating … Teresa’s beloved son Jack passed away. No parent should ever have to bury a child, especially not after everything else Teresa has endured. This should have never been part of her story.

Teresa and her children moved in with someone she trusted …someone she thought would offer love and support. Instead, he manipulated and exploited her emotionally and financially. Over time, he drained her life savings, convincing her to spend everything she had: purchasing vehicles, remodeling his house, buying equipment, and supporting him and his son … all while Teresa tried to keep her own family together.

As the money ran out, so did any compassion this man had for Teresa and her children. He became cold and emotionally abusive, even telling her sons outright, “I don’t want to be your father,” and speaking to them in ways no child should ever have to endure. Her youngest, only 12 years old, has expressed suicidal thoughts more than once. Teresa, who is still grieving the loss of her husband and son, is now terrified of losing another child.

Now, Teresa’s only hope is to return to the house she fled from …the very place where her husband took his life. It’s the only place she has left, but it’s unlivable in its current condition. The house needs major repairs: new windows, drywall, paint, trim, and … most urgently … a working air conditioning unit. There is currently no AC, and the summer heat is unforgiving.

Teresa also needs help getting back on her feet. She had been working for the Spotsylvania County school system until she suffered a mild stroke, which made it difficult to continue. Despite paying out-of-pocket for counseling, emotional healing for her and her children has been painfully slow.

This is a plea for help.
