Help us fight injustice at the Red Deer Tennis Club!

A coach from Simon Tennis School has been the victim of anonymous, threatening notes at the Red Deer Tennis Club (RDTC) for the past 2.5 years. Instead of addressing the culture that has generated these notes, the current Board has, in our opinion, contributed to and escalated this harassment. The Board’s actions culminated in the abrupt termination of the coaching school’s contract on April 1st, 2025, despite 16 years of exceptional coaching services. This decision was made without warning, without good faith, and behind closed doors.

Is this how a responsible leadership body should respond when members of its community are being threatened?

Letters and appeals to the Board to address these threats have fallen on deaf ears. Board members have dismissed these threatening notes, minimized them, even denied them. Members of the tennis community who have urged decisive action have themselves been targeted and branded as troublemakers. This situation has had a pervasive negative effect throughout the club, particularly on those who take lessons with, and support, Simon Tennis School. Many members of our tennis community are no longer feeling welcome and safe at the club.

Legal action seems to be the only way to redress this injustice and to promote positive change.
