Support Tenacious D's Wildlife Conservation Dream

Voted most likely to save the world by her sixth-grade classmates, my daughter is now a proud graduate of Grand Valley State University with a degree in Natural Resource Management. With a focus on Wildlife Conservation, her dream is to return to South Africa where she interned, and to continue her education by spending time at the Southern African Wildlife College, Kruger National Park, the Timbavati Nature Reserve, and perhaps her favorite location of all - Mahlekisana Primary School.

Her projects during this trip will include filing rhino horns to make them less attractive to poachers, assisting with radio telemetry tagging of big cats to track their movement, participating in the production of a wildlife documentary, and (hopefully) building a network of like-minded individuals who might guide her toward long-term employment in her field.

Those of you who know me (Tracy Brogan) are aware I write witty, whimsical stories about bold young women eager for adventure. You've read social media posts about my daughter, Tenacious D. You have cheered alongside me at her accomplishments - and laughed as I've shared some of the snarky things she's said!

Now she's ready for her own big, bold adventure. As you can imagine, getting to and around Africa takes both time and money. Time she has. But money? Not so much. She's working hard to raise the funds necessary to travel safely, but if her story interests you, and you feel compelled to make a donation, please know that any amount you offer will be much appreciated by both of us. She flies to Johannesburg on June 1st and returns toward the end of month.
