Temple Jernigan’s Journey: Overcoming Adversity, One Step at a Time
My name is Temple Jernigan, and I’m sharing my story with the hope that you’ll join me in my journey to rebuild my life after losing both of my legs due to complications from diabetes and peripheral artery disease. Over the past 2 ½ years, I’ve faced unimaginable challenges, and now, I’m at a place where I need your support more than ever.
In late 2022, I was diagnosed with peripheral artery disease (PAD), a condition that causes poor circulation and severely affects blood flow to my legs. As the disease progressed, I lost the ability to work, and without insurance, my financial stability crumbled. In December 2022, my first leg was amputated due to the damage caused by PAD and the complications of diabetes. This loss was not just physical—it was a life-altering change, both emotionally and financially. I had to adapt to a new reality, learning how to live and move with just one leg.
But the challenges didn’t stop there.
In October 2024, just two years after my first amputation, I lost my second leg. Diabetes had taken its toll on my body, and despite my efforts to fight, my second leg was no longer salvageable. I was devastated. With the loss of both legs, I am now faced with even greater obstacles.
I’m not just trying to get by—I’m striving to regain my independence and keep moving forward. This isn’t just about physical recovery; it’s about having the tools I need to live the life I fought so hard for. My journey isn’t over, but I can’t do it alone.
The Road Ahead: How You Can Help
I’m raising funds to cover the medical bills that continue to pile up. The costs for my second prosthetic leg are significant, and without it, I won’t be able to regain my mobility and independence. In addition, I need specialized equipment for my truck to continue driving and working, which will allow me to maintain some semblance of normalcy in my life.
I know times are tough for everyone, but I’m asking for your support during this critical time. Whether you can donate, share my story, or send positive thoughts, every little bit helps. This journey has been long and challenging, but with your help, I can continue to fight and rebuild.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can provide. Together, we can help Temple take his next steps toward recovery.
