Help support John Gilbert in his cancer journey!!

Hi, my name is Telena Clemons and I am setting up this for my grandfather, John Gilbert. Back in August of 2024 my grandpa developed laryngitis. His doctors ordered an x-ray, CT scans, and blood work. During the time it took for him to get the x-rays, he took a spill and hit his head. His breathing was getting worse, and it was decided to take him to the emergency room. The did a CT scan there and found a large mass in his neck. They transferred him to a larger hospital, put in a PEG tube (feeding tube) not long after he was admitted, as they didn't want him eating or drinking anything. He was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia and 4th stage throat cancer.

His first hospital visit lasted from December 24th, yep Christmas Eve, to the 1st week of January. During that time he had the PEG tube placed, and underwent what they called a "debulking" of the mass in his throat. They were afraid he would not be able to breath if they didn't. He was able to come home for a few days, then back to the hospital for the actual throat surgery. He underwent his total laryngectomy on the 21st of January and was finally able to return home mid-February.

This has been extremely hard on him as chemo and radiation do take a toll on a person. He goes to radiation Monday thru Friday and has a little over 2 weeks left. He does chemotherapy once a week for 4 to 6 hours, depending on his white blood cell count.

He has lost weight, lost hope a couple times, and been through to much the last few months. He missed Christmas, New Years, and his birthday all in the hospital.

Bills are starting to come in and since grandpa requires 24/7 care my grandma has not been able to work. Limited income, medical expenses, home expenses, and the fact that this is a long term thing means the bills will continue to stack up. I am hoping I can help them ease a little of their stress by getting some help.

Please, if you know my grandparents you know they would NEVER ask for help. Hence the reason I am doing it for them. They need this. They need to know people out there care and are able to help when needed. Help me, Help them PLEASE.
