One of the best things about a home birth midwife is that they show up at your home, bringing whatever is needed for your birth to your doorstep. But the risk of carrying your midwifery kit with you wherever you go means that a car break-in can be jeopardizing to your livelihood.
Unfortunately, on October 4, the complete birth kit of Tel Viehmann Cunningfolk, LM, CPM was stolen from their car while attending an event to learn more on how to support the families in their care. Their kit is worth thousand of dollars and full of essential equipment used to keep families and babies safe and healthy during birth. Even more heartbreaking is that most of the equipment that Tel had in their car had been with them for every birth, including the scale used to weigh every single Taproot Midwifery baby.
Tel is in the process of rebuilding their midwifery kit, but they need your help. Many of you know that this past year has already been a difficult one financially, as Tel has been in and out of the hospital due to extensive gallbladder complications since last September. They’re feeling ready to leave this streak of bad luck behind and move on with the doing what they love - supporting families during the transformative time of birth. Your financial assistance during this time means that Tel will be able to get back on their feet sooner than later and serving the families that seek out the uniqueness of Tel’s inclusive care.
