On April 4th, 2026, what should have been a joyful celebration at the Lao New Year Festival in New Iberia, Louisiana, turned into a devastating tragedy. Panouphanh “Tee” Soundara and others experienced a life changing accident. Tee was critically injured when a vehicle drove through the festival parade route, changing her life and the lives of those who love her forever.

Tee was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and has already undergone multiple emergency surgeries. She continues to fight every day, with many more procedures and a long, uncertain road to recovery ahead.

Although Tee calls Tennessee home, she must remain in Lafayette, Louisiana for specialized medical care for the foreseeable future. This has created an overwhelming emotional and financial burden for her and her family. They are facing mounting medical expenses, the eventual cost of medical transport back home, and the ongoing needs of her recovery.

Tee is affectionately called the “Life of the Party’ by her family and friends. She lights up the room and always has a smile on her face. She is a proud grandmother of 2 grandchildren with a 3rd on the way; milestones she’s determined to be present for. Her family is holding onto hope as they wait for the day Tee is strong enough to return home; where she can be surrounded by the love, comfort, and support of her community.

Tee’s journey to healing will not be easy, but she is not alone. With your support, we can help ease the financial strain on her family and give her the best possible chance to recover and return to the life she loves.

Any donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Tee and her family in your thoughts. Your kindness does not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for any help you can offer. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time.

From,
Panouphanh Khantee (Tee) Soundara’s Family
