Hi everyone, I've started a Go Fund Me for my furbaby Teela (my beautiful little 10 lbs chihuahua).
On Thursday June 4th, 2026 at approx 8AM, I took my baby for her usual morning walk around the block (with her leash on as always). As we walked up the street, my neighbor who lives 3 houses down from me had both of her husky dogs out in the driveway (unsupervised per usual). As Teela & I are walking by, the neighbors white 40-50 pound husky seen my baby and got extremely excited, got on its hind legs, pushed the chain link fence open and pounced on my baby, attacking her ferociously. I tried pulling the leash, but the white husky didn't let go so I had to fight this dog with my bear hands to get it to let go of my baby. I lost my hat, glasses, & shoes trying to get this dog to let go of my baby & got bit in the right hand by the husky. I ended up with a open gash between my pointer and middle finger, right by the knuckle area.
My baby unfortunately got hurt very badly. The husky mauled my little 10 pound baby. Teela had a large chunk of her back ripped open by this dog. I had to rush my baby to the emergency vet where the doctors there immediately admitted Teela to the ICU. The vet did bloodwork, xrays and a general physical exam. The bloodwork came back good. The trays showed Teela has 2 fractured ribs on her right side and severe internal damage caused by the bites.
The vet informed me that due to the severity of Teela's injuries, she will have to stay in the ICU for 48 hours. The total cost of treatment for emergency room and ICU care brought the cost to $12,000+. (Not including all the follow-up visits).
My baby was admitted into surgery only after I agreed to pay $12,000 - in full for the 48 hours of ICU treatment.
Green Acres Vet does not do payment plans so I had to apply for a line of credit in order to cover the cost. I was approved for a line of credit for $10,000 and paid the remaining difference with the money in my checking/savings account.
I was able to visit my baby in the ICU on Friday June 5th and when she seen me, she immediately stood up and gave me a big smile. When I seen all the stitches on her right side, I broke down crying. The vet told me upfront - "your dog is lucky to be alive, the injuries she sustained should've killed her, she must have a dad who loves her alot for her to fight through these injuries". The vet recommended that they keep Teela an extra 24 hours to monitor for infections.
On Friday June 5th, I spoke with my neighbor who lives directly across the street from me to see if he had any Ring camera footage of the attack on Thursday morning that he could share. Turns out his Ring cam is setup to record only 24 hours at a time. By the time I spoke to him, it was past the 24 hour mark, so he didn't have the footage.
What he did tell me is that 2 days prior to my baby getting mauled, another neighbor who lives in the area was walking her dog down the street and the same thing happened to her. The husky got out of the the chain link fence and went to attack her dog. Thankfully the lady picked up her dog in time so it wasn't harmed.
2 days later, my baby and I were the unfortunate victims of this dog attack.
Long story short - I'm asking for help, not so much for me, but for my baby Teela. She's been with me since she was 8 weeks old. She's now 8 years old and I want her to be with me for another 8 year if given the chance.
She is my everything and the main reason why I work tirelessly to always provide a good life for her.
Thank you for any help you can provide, whether it be financial, words of encouragement, thoughts & prayers, positive vibes. All of it helps.
Hopefully I will be able to bring my baby home today Saturday June 6th, so she can recover at home with me and her 2 feline sisters (who have been looking for Teela for the last 2 days).
