Friends and fellow cat lovers, meet Teddy.

We don't know a whole lot about Teddy's earliest days, but what we do know is this: Teddy was found huddled against a gate on a dirty sidewalk in Brooklyn on a frigid January morning. He clearly had once belonged to someone, given how clean and friendly he is. He was not microchipped or neutered, and he was clearly in pain: he hobbled over on 3 legs to the kind woman who rescued him. She was the only person who cared enough to stop for a sweet boy not at all cut out for life on the unforgiving streets.

After a week of searching for Teddy's family, it became clear that sadly, no one was looking for him. And so Teddy has found himself with a wonderful foster, and a few cat rescue ladies to oversee his care.

What happened to Teddy's leg? We may never know, but a trip to the vet for x-rays gave us some more information: his femur is broken, and it will require surgical intervention. Given the location of the break at the joint, Teddy might need an amputation. He is only a few months old; this should never have been his fate, but here we are.

Our incredible friend Sara from Milo's Bravest Friends has (once again) stepped up to help us manage our second kitty with a broken limb in as many months. Teddy's foster, Lisa, will bring him to Connecticut to begin his healing journey, where he will get the best care possible at a rate that is more manageable for a few humans who are just trying to do even a small amount of good in the world -- and that's where you come in. Even with rescue discounts, Teddy requires expert care, which is costly. If we can save his leg, we will. If losing it is the best-case scenario for him to live a pain-free life, we will do that. Your donations will help us make the best decision possible so we can put this chapter behind us and Teddy can get back to what's most important: enjoying his kittenhood safe, warm, and loved.
