Hi Everyone -
First I want to thank you all for the thoughts and prayers you sent for Teddy because they kept him alive!
As most of you know, Teddy had a heart attack on December 23rd and he died. The paramedics were able to bring him back after about 25 minutes. He was in a medical coma for a couple weeks and when they did a MRI his results were great - no swelling in the brain and the neurologist said he did not see any reason why Teddy would not recover almost 100 % physically but unknown as to his cognitive abilities.
The hospital doctors wanted intense therapies but insurance denied those requests three times and Teddy was transferred to a nursing home rehab on January 22nd. The rehab was able to start some PT and other therapies and he can feed himself and is starting to walk but he is very weak. The rehab wanted to keep him longer to continue therapies and if insurance approved there would be a copay of $200/day and if they denied it would be $1000/day. However, insurance denied those claims as well and since we do not have the financial means he was discharged to me on February 16th.
Teddy has a huge gap of memory loss- he cannot recall about the last 15 years of his life and he also has very short term memory loss. He is very confused at times and it is frustrating for him as well as the family.
Our goal is to keep him at home with us but we need some services that insurance will not cover and we need to make our home handicap accessible - especially the bathroom shower.
I know there are many people in need and finances are tight for most everyone so if you decide to donate please know it will be very much appreciated.
Thank you and God bless!
