Tech Together Highland Park (formerly Wait Until 8th) is a parent-led movement dedicated to helping families feel confident saying yes to waiting for a smartphone.
Our pledge encourages families to come together and delay giving their children a smartphone until at least the end of 8th grade. At the same time, we support families at every stage, including those who have already introduced smartphones. This is not about judgment. It is about community, support, and shared learning.
Our goal is simple. Bring parents together to navigate the challenges of raising kids in an ever-changing digital world.
When families move together, it reduces the pressure on kids to have a phone early and gives parents the confidence to make thoughtful decisions. It also helps protect the elementary and middle school years from the distractions and risks that come with early smartphone use.
Right now, we are raising funds to expand our impact through community outreach, educational resources, and events. Today, the average child receives their first smartphone around age 10. We believe we can change that.
With your support, we will host events that educate, connect, and empower families to make informed choices that support their children’s mental health and well-being.
We invite you to:
Sign the pledge
Share it within your school and community
Support our efforts to reach more families
Together, we can build a movement that protects childhood, strengthens families, and creates a healthier community for everyone.
