In April 2026, a dedicated group of athletes will represent the UK at the 25th Open Belgian Pencak Silat Championship — one of Europe’s key international competitions.
They are not full-time professionals.
They are students, workers, and individuals training around everyday life — united by discipline, sacrifice, and a shared goal: to bring home medals for the UK!
Why We Need Your Support
Unlike many national teams, Pencak Silat in the UK receives limited funding.
This means our athletes must personally cover:
International travel
Accommodation
Competition entry fees
Equipment and training costs
Without support, representing the UK at this level becomes financially difficult — even for highly accomplished athletes.
About the Competition
The Belgian Open (April 24–26, 2026) brings together top competitors from across Europe and beyond, competing under official international rules.
This is not just another event — it is:
A major international platform
A pathway to future European and World Championships
A chance to raise the profile of UK Pencak Silat globally
Meet the Team:
Proven Medal Winners
Djibrill Aoudou – 4x Gold medallist, World Championship Bronze
Eden Switonski-Pangalos – European Champion (2024), rising talent balancing elite sport with university studies
International Podium Competitors
Elizario Alves Ribeiro – Multiple European medals, World Championship quarter-finalist
Hanisah Rizaudin – European Bronze medallist and World Championship competitor
Emerging Talent
Igor de Araujo Andrade – International silver medallist, strong contender
Marmivio Viera de Jesus – First international competition, representing years of dedication
Shannon Then – Artistic competitor with a background in performance, competing internationally for the first time
Each athlete has committed years to mastering this martial art — often with little external support.
Your contribution directly funds:
✈️ Flights to Belgium
Accommodation during the competition
Entry fees and event costs
Local transport and logistics
Every donation — no matter the size — helps ensure these athletes can compete without financial barriers.
Why This Matters
Pencak Silat is more than a sport — it is a discipline rooted in culture, respect, and resilience.
Supporting this team means:
Enabling athletes to compete at an international level
Promoting a growing martial art in the UK
Backing individuals who have already proven their commitment and ability
Our Goal
We are aiming to raise £1,500 to cover essential costs.
With your support, we can ensure that this team travels fully prepared — focused on performance, not financial stress.
