From Rory's family:

Let me tell you a story. It's all about a special, sweet, compassionate, intelligent, loyal, and loving young man, our son, Rory.

Rory was born with a birth defect, Klippel Trenauney syndrome. At the time, it was a rare defect. It’s a vascular malformation that caused an overgrowth in both of his lower limbs. Rory then became a Shriner's child at 10 months old and has had multiple surgeries and procedures at Shriner's Hospital in Springfield, MA. He was a Shriner's patient until he aged out at 21.

Rory wasn't brought up to be disabled, he was brought up to be the best he could be with what he had. He never complained, he never felt sorry for himself, and he even tried out for the basketball team in elementary school. The basketball coach was so impressed with his spirit that he made him the team manager and surprised everyone when they made a special basketball play designed just for Rory to score a basket and the whole auditorium went nuts cheering his name, and we cried like babies when he scored. It was a proud moment and special memory.

Rory wasn’t able to keep up with his peers on the physical side of life, but he was gifted with incredible intelligence and went on to Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI. He graduated with an Engineering degree. Unfortunately, he was laid low due to complications after a medical procedure done at Boston Children's Hospital in Boston, MA and had to go on disability for a while to recover. But that didn't stop Rory from being Rory. After his Nana passed away, he moved in with his grandfather and together they became a team and took care of each other.

Rory pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a Shriner himself to give back to the hospital who helped him so much as a child. To become a Shriner, you must first become an active member of the Masons. He became a valued Mason at the Washington Lodge, became his Masonic Temple's acting Secretary for several years and was just recognized for his years of service and contribution to the Masons with a special plaque in his name.

After becoming a Mason, Rory completed his dream of becoming a member of Bektash Shriners. To be a Shriner's child for 21 years and then to become an active Shriner's member himself was an incredible accomplishment, all the while on disability for ongoing health issues from KT Syndrome.

Rory’s disability income only covered his college loan payments, so he created an EBay business to cover other expenses and to have some “fun money”. Once he had recovered and gained enough stamina, he went on to work at Dolphin Pools.

The year 2022 was a pivotal year for him. It was Rory's best and worst year. He bought a new car, he met the girl of his dreams and found the perfect job at Proto Labs in Nashua, NH where he could put his engineering education to use. Everything was finally coming together for him and then the floor dropped out from underneath him. On November 3rd, 2022, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 incurable inoperable cancer in the lining of his stomach. By January 2023, he had lost 50 pounds and had started chemotherapy at Dana Farber in Boston, MA. From there he started to slowly recover, he became engaged, went back to work (working remotely) and on May 14th , he and his fiancé, Karen, had a small but beautiful commitment ceremony.

By the end of July, he was back in the hospital with complications and on September 4th, we were told that the very aggressive cancer had taken hold. It is now time for us to find a Palliative Care Facility that can manage his pain and cancer-causing symptoms and make him as comfortable as possible.

Once again, we are all devastated. And in typical Rory fashion, he is worried about everyone else. The medical bills are really mounting. There are so many expenses that insurance does not cover. We need your help to help our son so he can live out the rest of his days without the worry of leaving mounds of debt.

Please help us help him. Can you see your way to understanding that this special young man is losing everything in the prime of his life. When he should be enjoying his new relationship, new job and just life in general. Rory deserves so much better than he has been given in his life and though he is still not complaining, we know he is worried about all of us, about the debt and about how this debt will get paid.

If Rory were able to still work, he would definitely be doing that. He would be paying on this debt, and he would be trying to give money to The Shriner’s Hospital and Dana Farber’s Jimmy Fund. BECAUSE THAT IS WHO RORY IS.

If donating on line is not your thing or makes you uncomfortable, but you would still like to help, we have a savings account set up at Members First Credit Union of NH - Rory Morse Fund. Anyone can make a deposit into that account.

Please find it in your heart to donate funds to our son's plight. Thanking you all for reading the story of our amazing son, Rory.
