Support Team Greece at the 2025 IIHF Development Cup

Hi Hockey Friends!

TEAM GREECE IS BACK!! The team will be competing in the 2025 IIHF Development Cup tournament in Andorra on April 22-26, 2025. Participating countries include Greece, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Liechtenstein, and Andorra.

After a 2-4 record in their return to international competition at the 2024 IIHF Development Cup tournament in Bratislava, Slovakia, the team is excited to showcase their development over the last 12 months. Once again, the team will be almost entirely comprised of players who reside in Greece and learned the game in Greece! While Greece does not have a single regulation-sized rink in the entire country, there are many passionate coaches, ex-National Team players, and the next generation of young players who play and practice on a smaller-sized rink for the love of the game. The roster should skew younger this year as we continue to develop Greek homegrown talent in an ongoing process to get Greece back to IIHF full member status.

The General Manager of the team, former National Team player John Koufis, and the coaching staff comprised of ex-NHL player Niko Dimitrakos, former Western Michigan standout Jeff Green, Christopher Zarb of Fore Hockey IQ, and previous National Team Coaches Mirel Dumitrake and Giotis Efkarpidis, are very excited to return to help build this team of players for the tournament.

The team is looking to raise the stated goal funds via private donations or through this GoFundMe to help the players with the tryout and training costs as well as equipment and all travel costs. We appreciated everyone's help with their donations in 2024 and continue to work very hard to get the program self-funding in cooperation with the Winter Sports Federation. In the meantime, we are calling again on all Ice Hockey fans and all Greeks worldwide --- Let's all come together and help fund the dreams and goals of Greek Ice Hockey GENERATION NEXT!!
