Hello!
We are FIRST Robotics Competition Team 4272, Maverick Robotics out of McCutcheon High School in Lafayette, IN. We just qualified for the FIRST Indiana State Championship and have a great chance at qualifying for the FIRST Championship in Houston, TX. Each of these competitions has significant costs associated. The goal of this fundraising campaign is to offset these costs to the greatest extent possible with every single dollar applied directly to reducing costs for students and mentor coaches.
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a high-school-level robotics competition organized by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). It challenges students to design, build, and program 150-pound robots to compete in a game that changes every year. Teams have eight weeks to build their robots after the game is revealed at the start of the season. The competition involves strategy, engineering, teamwork, and problem-solving, culminating in regional, national, and world championship events. FRC is often described as "the hardest fun you'll ever have" because it combines the excitement of competitive sports with the rigor of science and technology. Teams work with mentors, including engineers, programmers, and business professionals, to learn real-world skills.
Maverick Robotics was founded in November 2011 at McCutcheon High School. The founders of the team analyzed the programs available to students in the community and found that McCutcheon High School lacked adequate resources and programs to teach students about robotics and advanced engineering skills. Following this evaluation, Team 4272 was founded as a partnership between McCutcheon High School and Purdue FIRST Programs.
The team is student-centered and student-guided, supported by a broad network that includes a registered 501(c)(3) booster organization, active alumni involvement, and community sponsors. The team has seen continued growth in team members, currently standing at 22 students and 18 mentor coaches. Our competition strengths are well-rounded, from robot design, fabrication, and overall quality, to programming, driving, and gameplay strategy. We take pride in our accomplishments, having earned the Chairman’s Award in 2021, and consistently ranking among the top 5 Indiana teams since 2022, winning 5 of 10 district competitions in that time. The team has also qualified for FIRST Championships, a global competition, for two consecutive years with aspirations of reaching our third this year.
With your help, we can offset these competition costs with every single dollar applied directly to reducing costs for students and mentor coaches. Please help us achieve our goal and thank you for your consideration.
