Support Teagan Cairns' Road to Recovery

Hi, I’m Abby and I’m raising funds for my future brother in law, Teagan Cairns.

On July 7th, Teagan was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident on his way to work. He was life-flighted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Teagan was placed on a ventilator as doctors worked to stabilize him and treat his multiple injuries, which included massive internal bleeding, multiple broken bones, and significant head trauma.

On July 8th, Teagan underwent a long surgery to repair his pelvis and femur fractures, with more surgery needed in the coming days.

On the evening of July 9th, the doctors believed Teagan was strong enough to be able to be weaned off the ventilator. The doctors said he was very lucky to be alive.

However, due to the extensive injuries on the left side of his body, Teagan remains unable to walk and is expected to be wheelchair-bound for at least the next 8 weeks. After that, he'll begin the long journey of learning to walk again.

On July 15th, Teagan underwent another surgery to repair his left hand in hopes of restoring its full use. In the coming days, we hope he’ll be transferred to an acute rehab facility for a few weeks for intense physical therapy to help regain the strength he has lost before transitioning home where he will continue his healing. This road to recovery will be long, painful, and uncertain. It’s unclear when—or if—Teagan will be able to return to work.

Throughout all of this, his significant other Shelby has been by his side day and night. She's been out of work, staying in hotels near the hospital, and making frequent trips between Keene and Lebanon getting everything in order for when Teagan returns home.

With mounting medical expenses the financial stress continues to grow and with no clear timeline for Teagan’s return to work, the need for support is urgent. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a world of difference in his recovery. Right now, Teagan is doing his best to stay positive, but the road ahead is long and uncertain. It is difficult asking for help, but Teagan and Shelby need our help.

All funds raised will go directly toward Teagan’s medical bills, rehabilitation, and living expenses as well as Shelby’s travel and lodging during this critical time.
