Support Local Teaching Assistant's Family Reunification

I’m raising funds to support a beloved teaching assistant at AHS in Charlottesville who works tirelessly to help students in our community. Beyond her work in the classroom, she has also been navigating an incredibly difficult personal situation.

For over two years, she has been married to her husband, Fahim Karimi, who remains in Afghanistan. Fahim was scheduled to come to the US through a State Department relocation program designed for those who worked with the US government in Afghanistan. Sadly, his flight was canceled at the last minute due to a policy decision made under the Trump administration, leaving them separated again.

They had planned their future around both of their incomes but now, she must support their family alone while also facing unexpected costs to restart and continue the visa process they had already paid for before the flight cancellation. The financial strain has become overwhelming.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly toward covering visa processing fees, flight costs, and other essential expenses needed to reunite this family and support them during this difficult time.

She prefers to remain nameless at this time due to her work with our kids, but I would be happy to provide further information privately, if you need!
