Amy Watson has been "Teacher Amy" for nearly 30 years, and she has been the very first teacher for hundreds of young minds as an early childhood educator.

For many families, they came to know Amy through her role as the teacher at Mt. Tabor Preschool. Amy began teaching at Mt. Tabor Preschool in the fall of 2004. She was a co-op parent as well as the teacher when her daughter attended MTP in 2004-2005. Over the past two decades, she has been the heart of Mt. Tabor Preschool. She has worked with more than 570 families at MTP, and many of her former MTP parents as well as her students, grown though they may be, still keep in touch with her year after year.

After serving Portland families since 1951, Mt. Tabor Preschool has faced significant financial challenges since the pandemic. With heartbreak, the difficult decision to close the school has been made. November 2023 will be Mt. Tabor Preschool's last month together, after which Teacher Amy will be let go, and will begin seeking new employment.
