I’m a preschool teacher in the Bolton Hill neighborhood of Baltimore, and working with children is my life’s work. I suffered a back injury a few years ago that has only gotten worse. This injury requires me to take about five weeks off to fully recover. This has been a hard decision, as I care deeply about my students and my role in their lives, but my health needs to come first so I can return to the classroom at my best. During this time, I won’t have an income, and the financial strain is overwhelming. The funds raised here will go directly toward my medical bills, including doctor visits and physical therapy, health insurance (I will be covering 100% of my premiums) as well as essential living expenses and transportation while I heal. Every bit of support will help me focus on getting better without the added stress of worrying about how to make ends meet. It’s hard for me to reach out for help, and I’ve been reticent to take the time off I need. Any donation, no matter the size, would mean the world to me and help me get through this time.
