My name is Dezire & as many of you probably already know, Taylor Davis, is one of my very bestfriends & has to been for over ten years now.
Recently Taylor has been diagnosed with the following; Ankylosing spondylitis, Chiari Malformation, Focal Epilepsy & 3rd & 5th Cranial Nerve Palsy. Please see below for a more in-depth information regarding what the issue are & what symptoms they cause.
Taylor has been fighting for over a year to be heard, to get diagnosed & to get treated properly. She has recently found a doctor in NYC that is determined to make her quality of life better. However, with these visits come a new stressor; money.
Taylor will need to travel to the city multiple times & the re-occurring costs of doing so, are adding additional unwanted stress to her & her families lives.
With these trips to NYC, the Davis family is having to accrue travel costs, hotel stays, & child care, that insurance simply does not help with.
That is why I started this Go Fund Me. To ask all of you, from the kindness of your heart, to help if you can. Whether that be donating, sharing, or offering loving support, all is welcome.
As most of you know, Taylor is a Mother, first, & is a wonderful one at that. Taylor is a kind, loving soul, that always gives & never asks for anything in return. She makes those around her feel so seen & loved every single day & if anyone is deserving of extra support & kindness, it’s her.
Descriptions & Symptoms of Taylor’s Diagnosis’;
Ankylosing spondylitis- an autoimmune that attacks the spine. Also known as “bamboo spine”. It causes systemic symptoms including the heart, lungs, eyes, weight loss, food intolerances
Chiari malformation - A condition in which brain tissue extends into the spinal canal, present at birth.
It occurs when part of the skull is abnormally small or misshapen.
Symptoms include pain, trouble swallowing, walking, balance issues, memory impairment, nerve damage. Potential surgery to correct
Focal Epilepsy - Focal seizures, also known as partial seizures, occur when nerve cells in a specific area of the brain send out excessive, uncontrolled electrical signals. They can be simple or complex. Mine are complex.
3rd & 5th cranial nerve palsy- 3rd cranial nerve (Oculomotor nerve)
Controls eye movement, eyelid elevation, and pupil constriction. Damage can cause drooping eyelids, double vision, and difficulty looking upwards and inwards.
5th cranial nerve (Trigeminal nerve):
Responsible for facial sensation and chewing muscles. Damage can lead to facial numbness, tingling, or pain, especially in the cheek, jaw, and around the eye.
