On August 1st, 2025, I received the call no mother ever wants to get. I was told Taylor had been in an accident, while on his motorcycle and he was in surgery. Then the list of injuries came: broken femur, fractured pelvis, dislocated wrist, lacerated spleen, a very large laceration going around his knee, some internal degloving of the left thigh, and brain shearing (which we found out is a traumatic brain injury). That night, they placed a rod in his left femur and were able to clean out his wrist to stabilize it. He was in surgery for 5 hours.

Saturday morning, they started to wean him off sedation and took the ventilator out. He was feeling some pressure in his groin throughout the day. It got worse as the day went on. They did a bladder scan and that was good. Next step was ultrasound where they thought it was a torsion that had cut off the blood supply to his testicle. Off to emergency surgery that night. They said 2 hours max and that surgery would be done. 4 hours later, it was done. It was not a torsion. His testicle was split in half from the impact of the accident.

Monday, August 4th, was another 6-hour surgery repairing his pelvis. It was fractured in 4-5 different spots. He is unable to bear weight on that leg for 12 weeks.

Now it was to determine what surgeon would do his wrist. With the total dislocation of the wrist, the ligaments in his wrist needed to be reattached. On Saturday, August 9th, he had the wrist repair surgery. Pins were placed to stabilize the wrist that will eventually need to come out. The wrist is also non-weight bearing and may also require future surgeries.

After 14 days, Taylor was released from the hospital and admitted into an intensive inpatient rehab. He was there for 9 days. They worked him hard in that time.

He gained strength back and was taught how to be as independent as possible while adjusting to life in a wheelchair, as that is his life for the next 3 months.

If you know Tay, you know he is always there to help a person out. Whether it's a friend that needs something or a stranger stuck in the ditch, he's there to lend a hand. He's also not one to ask for help. But the medical bills are starting to roll in and physical therapy continues. He is out of work for a minimum of 3 months, and could use some help. Any thing will help. If you can't donate, say a prayer and hit that share button. And thank you for the support!
I feel like I should add some details of the what happened. Taylor doesnt remember the accident or even leaving work that day. According to the police report there was another person on a bike. That person went through the posted 25 mph corner first, almost lost control but was able to pull out of it. Taylor was next, he took the corner too fast, layed his bike down, slid over the median and was hit by an oncoming car. We don't know who the other person was. The police say it's his fault. However we dont know the details leading up to the crash.

Update: September 13th. Taylor was released from thd hospital again yesterday after a week for some complications related to the accident. Sunday September 7th he headed back into surgery for a hematoma that developed causing him to lose blood flow to a portion of his small intestine. They removed about a foot of that.
The CT they did for the abdomen also showed a fluid filled sac had developed in the incision made for the pelvis repair. So Monday the 10th he went into surgery again for them to drain the seroma. When they got in to drain it there was infection that went down to some of the hardware in the pelvis. So the cleaned that out and placed a wound vac. With plans to go in again Wednesday to replace 4 of the screws. They were able to do that successfully. So 3 surgeries in 4 days.
One more surgery is scheduled for September 25th on his wrist to remove the pins, try to manipulate the wrist and clean out some scar tissue in the hand as his mobility is pretty limited with that hand. Please keep the prayers coming as this is going to be a long road for Taylor.
