Support Taylor Fernandez Road to Recovery #51

Taylor is a Junior at Monte Vista Christian School. He is a happy, energetic kid who loves hanging out with friends, listening to country music, playing Football and Wrestling.

On August 26, 2023, Taylor was playing in the first Varsity football game of the year against Los Altos High School. While blocking on a punt return, he took a blindside hit that instantly took him to the ground. He lost all feeling in his arms and legs and was immediately taken by ambulance to Stanford Hospital.

He has undergone numerous tests and intense physical therapy for the past few weeks. His paralysis has begun to subside, and he is slowly regaining his mobility back. He still suffers from intense headaches and light sensitivity from a severe concussion. He was released from the hospital on September 15 after he managed to take a few steps but still has a very long road ahead of him.

His diagnosis is a severe concussion, bulging discs, major functional nerve damage and minimal structural nerve damage. His recovery will require him to continue with Speech, Occupational and Physical Therapy multiple times a week for 3-6 months, traveling to Stanford for Neurological visits, Valley Med for Concussion Clinic, and Dominican for other medical visits.

Through Faith, Family/Friends and Hard work, we are hopeful that Taylor will make a full recovery.
